Course Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
  • Must have at least a Class 3 FAA Airman Medical Certificate
  • 40 hours total flight time, which must include:
    • 20 hours flight training from an authorized instructor
    • 3 hours of cross-country flight training
    • 3 hours of night time flight training, which must include:
      • 1 cross-country flight of over 100NM total
      • 10 take-offs and landings to full stop
    • 3 hours of flight training maneuvering by reference of instruments only
    • 10 hours of solo flight time, which must include:
      • 5 hours cross-country of which 1 flight must be 150NM
    • 3 take-offs and landings at an airport with a control tower
  • Receive appropriate Ground Instruction
  • Must pass a FAA written exam
  • Must pass a FAA practical exam
